Gordon L. Willson was an outstanding educator who came to Baraboo in 1928 and served as a teacher, coach, athletic director, principal of Baraboo High School, and for over 30 years as superintendent of Baraboo schools. He and his wife, Sarah, also an educator, inspired their three children to enter the field of education as well.

He embodied the ideals of integrity, responsibility, honesty and family, and was deeply devoted to children and the importance of education.

Gordon Willson was active in various civic organizations in town, such as Kiwanis, Sauk County Historical Society, the library board, and Fortnightly. He had a deep history and contributed to Ken Lange’s book on Sauk County.
