Time period/Baraboo: 1977-2016

David Etzwiler was a quiet and private family man, never looking for glory, credit or even thanks. As Associate Professor of Math at University of Wisconsin-Baraboo/Sauk County, he was one of the longest serving teachers on campus, having started in 1977. He worked there as a volunteer and substitute even after his retirement in 2003. In all those years, his students came before anything else and he would devote endless hours to helping them outside of classes. As a result of his love for the college and education in general, David joined the Baraboo Community Scholarship Corporation and worked tirelessly on that committee for years.
He was also a volunteer in several other Baraboo organizations, but his overriding cause was always the spread of education and the effort to make it as available as possible to the youth of this area. He would be the last person to think he was deserving of a mural memorial, but David’s commitment to our community shows that he is worthy.
