After World War II Doc Hannan and his wife moved to Baraboo where he first practiced medicine with Dr. Troyer. After several years he opened his own practice on Ash Street. He was especially known for delivering multiple generations of babies – all the kids in a family, followed by their kids, and sometimes a third generation. He along with other Baraboo business men were part of the enthusiastic group of Baraboo people when Circus World Museum was still just a dream.
The best thing, he adored the people of Baraboo. He didn’t know a stranger in all those years.“To laugh often and much. To win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children. To earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends. To appreciate beauty, to find the best in others. To leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition. To know even one life has been easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded.” Ralph Waldo Emerson
